I am happy working with Carelon, and I know it goes for everyone working with the institution. As they enter and leave the premises, one can see the proud and happy faces of every associate of all levels.
How has your company supported your personal and professional growth? Can you share a specific experience?
Working at Carelon is my first call center experience. The challenge was enormous. At the start, I struggled with the technology used by Carelon but I don’t shy away from learning. Normally, I think we struggle when we are starting. Learning was like learning the ABCs in first grade. Maneuvering from one tool to another and using them was the biggest challenge. But along the way, I also learned and developed strategies to make the tools work for me efficiently.
What helped a lot was that everyone was ready to help me, supportive, and there when I reached out for help. No one made snide comments, about me being old or being slow because I was old. They just accepted me, unconditionally. This inclusive action provided me with emotional stability. I was lucky with my supervisor and teammates. My supervisor made sure I was swimming with the team. The coaching and weekly huddles he did with me helped me improve. My teammates, on the other hand, made extra effort to teach me some tricks of the trade.
I am not new to the digital world. I have been using it for quite some time before I started working with Carelon. However, I would like to acknowledge the fact that I have also improved my digital skills since working with Carelon, more specifically mobile banking. As to managing my health, of course, the digital world is my partner.
What are the top three best practices your company follows that create an amazing workplace? Or what is a unique perk, tradition, or initiative at your company that employees love?
