It Starts with a Clear People Strategy.

Ingram Micro is the world’s largest wholesale technology distributor and a global leader in IT supply-chain, mobile device lifecycle services, and logistics solutions. They deliver world-class services to their clients by ensuring “the right people, in the right place, at the right time, doing the right thing, the right way, supporting One Ingram Micro.” To unlock talent and the full potential of their employees and to influence a culture of workplace excellence, Ingram Micro launched the IM Engaged Campaign which focuses on 6 key aspects of engagement namely: corporate citizenship, rewards and recognition, career growth and development, health and wellness, diversity and inclusion and organizational governance. The campaign was well-aligned to Ingram Micro’s mission, vision, core values, and corporate strategies. The objective was to inspire and encourage their people to be the best that they can be at Ingram Micro.

The Ambition is to be an Employer of Choice by 2020 – a Goal Realized with Great Place to Work-Certification™.

Sam White, HR Director for Ingram Micro Philippines, shared that their vision was to launch the critical programs that increase their sustainable engagement through IM Engaged and become an employer of choice by 2020.

In late 2019, Ingram Micro partnered with Great Place to Work® bringing them a step closer to realize their corporate aspiration. They were delighted to receive Great Place to Work-Certification™ in January 2020, with 8 in every 10 Ingram Micro employees saying it is a great place to work!

This major milestone happened at the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic that required companies to shift their operations virtually. Ingram Micro leveraged on their Certification by launching their next campaign, Step into Greatness, this time to attract top talent, boost employee pride and support programs to keep their employees connected in the new virtual space. They wanted to make employees feel ‘greatness’ in every aspect of their employee life cycle.

In May 2020, Ingram Micro was hailed as one of the companies that made it to the inaugural Philippines Best Workplaces 2020 List, receiving the gold standard of employer recognition.

An Unceasing Journey and Commitment to Deliver Greatness.

The Great Place to Work® Trust Index™ Survey gave Ingram Micro’s leadership team insights on their employee experience and how to continue to create an even better workplace. They strengthened their commitment to their employees and supported them through the crisis by providing necessary resources to adjust to the new ways of working, increasing flexibility in work arrangements, ensuring financial support, offering more health and wellness programs, and opening more communication channels to encourage everyone’s involvement in strategic decisions and to virtually gather for fun moments as well.

Being intentional in connecting with employees, having a healthy variety of people practices that support the strategy and being able to quickly adapt and respond to changing times and needs. Ultimately, it is about doing what is best for their people.

Talent Attraction, Retention and Engagement are Benefits of Certification.

All the efforts yielded considerable improvements in all aspects of employee experience as evident on Ingram Micro’s most recent employee survey results. Their overall Great Place to Work® results show an increase of 11 percentage points from their 2019 survey, now with 9 in every 10 Ingram Micro employees saying, “Taking everything into account, Ingram Micro is a great place to work!”

They also observed 40% increase in applicants and attracted more higher level of talents that are specialized and from niche roles. All the applicants referred to Ingram Micro being a Great Place to Work-Certified™ as their key consideration for wanting to be a part of the organization.

Likewise, their employees express their desire to work at Ingram Micro for a long time with 90% annualized retention rate that is 5% higher than in Q2 2020 and 9% compared to 2019.

These are all a testament to the realized vision and commitment in enabling employees to be the best that they can be at Ingram Micro. In March, Ingram Micro was named one of the Philippines Best Workplaces 2021, receiving the gold standard of employer recognition for two consecutive years. True to their latest employer branding campaign, at Ingram Micro ‘Greatness Continues’.

For All™ Methodology

Great Place To Work, the global authority on workplace culture, determined the Philippines Best Workplaces™ 2023 List by conducting annual workforce studies through our Trust Index Survey™ and Culture Management platform Emprising®, representing the voices of over 450,000 employees across the Philippines.

Employees responded to over 60 survey questions describing the extent to which their organization creates a great place to work For All™, meaning that the company empowers all individuals to reach their full human potential. Eighty-five percent of the evaluation is based on what employees report about their experiences of trust and reaching their full human potential as part of their organization, no matter who they are or what they do. We analyze these experiences relative to each organization’s size, workforce makeup, and what’s typical in their industry and region. The remainder of the evaluation is an assessment of all employees’ daily experiences of the company’s values, people’s ability to contribute new ideas, and the effectiveness of their leaders to ensure they’re consistently experienced.

To ensure surveys truly represent all employees, we require enough people in each organization to respond that results are accurate to a 95% confidence level and 5% margin of error or better. We review any anomalies in survey responses, news, and financial performance to ensure there aren’t any extraordinary reasons to believe we couldn’t trust a company’s survey results.

Why do you say in one place your national list scoring is based on 85%/15% and in another place that it is 75%/25%?

We are explaining two different things:
1.  The criteria we evaluate

  •  85% concerned with Trust and Maximizing Human Potential and
  • 15% concerned with everything else

2.  Where the data comes from

  • 100% Trust Index for organizations with less than 100 employees
  • 75% based on the Trust Index survey analytics and 25% based on responses to the Culture Audit for organizations with more than 100 employees.
